Blue River Watershed, Willamette
Basin, Oregon, HJ Andrews Experimental Forest
For use with HJ Andrews databases MS001 and MS004. This data provides locations for spatial analysis of precipitation using the long term records in the above databases.
Locations of all the current and historic rain gauges within the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, Blue River Study Area, Wildcat Mountain, and in the town of Blue River. The locations are a mixture of GPS, old maps, and estimates from early researchers.

All current rain gauges have GPS coordinates that have been post processed and corrected using base stations. Accuracy levels are indicated in the attribute file (horz_pre field). Historical gauges have GPS level coordinates where staff and volunteers could remember and find locations, while some data points were digitized on-screen or from old maps and verbal descriptions of locations.
Accuracy levels are computed during the post-processing for GPS collected coordinates. The accuracy of the GPS collection point can not be computed in sites where the rain gauge is no longer existing.
Data were post processed using Trimble software.

Data points were originally digitized off of existing maps. The coordinates were refined during many GPS campaigns, beginning in the 1990's and again in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Blue River Study gauges were collected in 2014.
data were all in geographic (WGS 84) and XY coordinates were obtained. This data was then projected to UTM zone 10 and the elevation was captured from the 1 meter DEM where available.
